Soule Kindred Reunions
Soule Kindred has been holding annual reunions since 1969. Prior to 1973 the reunions were held in Plymouth or Duxbury, MA. Starting in 1973 the reunion was hosted by Soule Kindred members in various cities around the country and in Canada. The last two reunions are highlighted and the complete list of reunion cities can be found below.
The 2011 Soule Kindred Annual Reunion in Salt Lake City, Utah, was held Tuesday, June 14, through Friday, June 17. Local arrangements were expertly handled by Ancestor Seekers, a group based in Salt Lake City that is in the business of coordinating research trips to that city. With their help, Reunion attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including a full day at the Family History Library with expert genealogists available to provide research help and guidance. Another highlight was the pre-tour concert performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
42nd Reunion Smooth Sailing
On April 19, 2010, a group of seaworthy Soules boarded the Norwegian Sky for a five-day cruise to the Bahamas. The Norwegian Sky was much more luxurious than the ship on which George sailed 390 years ago. It offered multiple dining rooms, stage shows, films, swimming pools, an art auction and gambling.
By the time the ship returned to the port of Miami, members had had close encounters with dolphins and sharks, parasailed, snorkeled, hiked and shopped. They also attended Searching for Patience Soule, a seminar led by her descendant, Andrew Turner, and a PowerPoint presentation on The True & Amazing Story of Silas Soule, by Marcy Kelly Brubaker.
The last night at sea members and their families gathered for the traditional banquet and sang Happy Birthday to Norman Soule. Norm is Keeper of Banners, a past President, and has been a member of Soule Kindred since 1969. Rosemary Soule Peters, who organized the reunion, was praised for her excellent hosting skills. The next morning everyone reluctantly said goodbye to another enjoyable annual reunion and headed back home to all parts of the country and Canada.
